Photo update

Here are another selection of photos of the last few weeks....

Milford Sound: Fiords in the South of the south Island. The pointy peak on the right is Mitre Peak, the higest peak in the fiord land at almost 1200m.

The sheer beauty of Milford Sound....see the boat in the distance?

The edge of the fiord out on sea.

New Zealand fur seals basking in the sun. They were almost driven to extinction in the late 1800's because of their fur pelts that sealers hunted them for. They are now endangered.

Drift wood on another perfect beach.... close to the Cathedral Caves on the east coast of the South Island.

Hello?!?!?!? I'm here!!!!!!!!! Hannah dancing in one of the giant caves. It was in this cave that we spotted a Blue Penguin.

Nugget Point lighthouse. Very exposed and WINDY!!!!!!! it's called nugget point becuase of the "nugget-like" rocks out at sea....can you see them in the distance?

The sea splahing onto the Moeraki Boulders. perfectly round spheres on the beach....bizarre sight!

The scaley upclose apperance of the boulders.

Wow! There are so many!

And they are so big!?!?!?!

Lake Pukaki's amazing turquiose water!

And there on the horizon are the Alps, with Mt Cook - NZ's highest mountain...

The Mt Cook YHA. Incredible surroundings don't you think?

Icebergs! The lake at the head of the Tasman glacier. the icebergs are bits of glacier that have broken off from the head of the glacier.

The Tasman Glacier covered with sediment from several rockfalls and sediment it "picks" up along the way...

The Hooker Valley with Mt Cook in the background.

Sunrise!

Sunrise!

Picking nuts, while Sam (the blind dog) eats them! Lol! These dogs had an appetite for nuts, bananas, appels etc.... Sam would even walk up a compost heap and take a blind leap over a fence into the apple orchard!

Sorting, washing and drying picked up nuts. Nuts, nuts, nuts......

The seven types of nuts sold commercially from this farm. Top row, left to right: MT, Ennis, Lansing and M de B. Bottom row, left to right: Butler, Alex and White Hearts. They are different in size and differ in taste! Some are sweeter than others.

Eleanor (our WWOOFing host) holding Sam and Hannah talking to Abbey (or Mable as Hannah called her). Hannah isn't much of a dog lover so seeing her so calm around dogs was really cool.

Akoroa Harbour. This was one of the harbours on the Banks Peninsula. It is infact a volcanic crater.

The rough seas at Kaikoura during gale strength gusts.

Seals coming in for a rest from the stormy seas at Kaikoura.

All seagulls take off together! What a sight! There are seals on the rocks if you look closely.

Hmmmmm....I seem to be a bit lost?!?!?! What are you doing here? Apparently, British and Dutch people were able to come and settle freely in NZ until very recently. There are several dtuch families here and in the smallest of towns you can come accross dutch bakeries....juest the other day I had a big Speculaas cookie! YUM! This Windmill we saw on the way to Taupo where we did our skydive in a little place called Foxtown.

Righty, that's it for now....I hope this doesn't clog up your internet connections with download times:-)
