The Hangi and Rotorura
The Hangi
The show of the traditional Maori greetings and war cries
A typical Maori sculpture found in the middle of the town Rotorura
The museum in Rotorura...we spent several hours in there and even shed a tear or two...
Me sitting infront of a Marori fishing house
This river was boiling hot! But it was the colour differences that fascinated me!
This was a pool with the most curious colour!
Me fiddling around in the lake....I just couldn't believe the colour!
The geyser.....can you see it? It's just on the right hand side of the photo.
Man made terraces, but the hot water from the geyser filled up the "baths" nicely....there used to be natural pink and white teraces two centuries ago...before the major eruption in 1886 destroyed them....this is an attempt to show how they might have looked.
You don't see one of these every day! Lol! you can see the steam of the geyser too - in the distance!
