Farm no.3 and the Tongariro Crossing
The view from the farm of Mt. Ruapehu....impressive hey? We got to work in the shadow fo the mountain! And the sunrises and sunsets to be seen....well, Hannah and I went trigger happy!
A sunset once again....this was at the farm....
Mt. Ruapehu, seen from an hour walk we did not too far from the farm where we stayed for just over a week.
Mt Ruapehu
Me at the start of the Tongariro Crossing (6:30am!)
The sun coming up! It was amazing!
Crater of Ngauruhoe on the left...
Hannah sitting comfortably (even though it was VERY windy!) to enjoy the fantastic view before the climb up the red crater.
We've reached the highest point of the walk! 1892m!
Me at the highest point of the track, with the large blue lake in the distance.
The three emerald lakes as seen from the top of Red Crater.
The startling contrast between the colour of the water and the water plant growing in it. This was one of the emerald lakes.
The only flowers that managed to grow in at this altitude! Amazing really when you consider the wind, cold and not very friendly mineral content in the soil! The blue lake is in the background.
The flying septic tank! What a sight huh? Hannah and I just envisioned it falling....mmmmmm.....I wonder....The view from the hostel we stayed at in National Park in order to do the Tongariro crossing
